Business Insider: Russia Takes Down Turkish Drones In War Ukraine

The claim that almost all of the Bayraktar TB2 UAVs that Turkey delivered to Ukraine, which caused reactions from time to time in Russia, were shot down by Russian forces during the war became the agenda of the American press.

According to Business Insider news, the Turkish-made UAVs, said to provide “great military power to Ukraine” in the early stages of the war, were almost completely destroyed a year later. In the news, it was noted that many Bayraktar UAVs were shot down and destroyed by Russia, with the rest only performing reconnaissance missions.

Until a few months ago, the Ukrainian military shared footage of Turkish UAVs hitting Russian tanks.

“The general consensus on drones like the TB2 is that they work well without advanced air and electronic warfare systems,” military expert Samuel Bendetti told Business Insider. “Because they fly slow and low, they can be attacked from a distance by well-established air defense systems,” he said.

According to the news, Russia, which was weak against UAVs in the hands of Ukraine in the first period of the war, rapidly increased its capability in this area and managed to shoot down a large number of UAVs.

Ukraine announced last year that it had received 50 Bayraktar UAVs from Turkey after the Russian invasion. Russia also announced that it destroyed more than 100 UAVs in Ukraine in April.
