Wang spoke about the chip situation with South Korean Commerce Minister Ahn Duk-geun at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in Detroit, which concluded yesterday. The discussion focused on maintaining stability in the industrial supply chain and promoting bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation, a spokesman for China’s Commerce Ministry said.

Wang also said that China is willing to work with South Korea to strengthen trade ties and improve investment cooperation.

Other point of view

Surprisingly enough, a South Korean spokesperson said no word was said about the fries. Instead, there would be talk of stabilizing the supply of raw materials and creating a predictable commercial market for South Korean companies in China. “South Korea believes that communication between representatives of all sectors needs to be improved,” a South Korean spokesman said. “So it’s not just about chips and semiconductors.”
