FBI shares documents from Queen Elizabeth’s assassination
According to the BBC report, the documents released by the FBI included information about the Queen’s trip to the United States and details about plans for a possible assassination.
The documents show that the queen perceived the Irish Republican Army (IRA) as a threat and warned federal agents of the possibility of assassination.
Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip were warned about the murder about a month before the visit, documents including intelligence reports that a man in an Irish bar in San Francisco wanted “revenge for his murdered daughter.”
Documents show the suspect planned to harm the queen while she was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge or while visiting Yosemite National Park.
There is no information on the measures taken in Yosemite National Park, the documents show that the authorities closed the Golden Gate Bridge to pedestrian crossings due to threats.
It was also noted in the documents that many of the Queen’s visits to the US coincided with tense periods between Northern Ireland and the UK, and images of the banner reading “England, get out of Ireland” in the protest plane flying over Battery Park. during her visit to New York in 1976.
