Japanese Communications Minister Takeaki Matsumoto announced on Friday that the group’s first meeting, dubbed the Hiroshima AI process, would discuss issues such as intellectual property, disinformation and how to regulate technology.
Matsumoto said that as G7 chairman, Japan will take the lead in discussing the use of AI technology. He hopes the working group will be able to make recommendations to heads of state by the end of the year. The group will seek input from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a partnership of nearly forty countries.
