The prime minister of the interim government takes office in Greece
Greek President Katerina Sakelaropulu named Sarmas interim prime minister until the second election on June 25, after no party won a majority in a general election on May 21 and a coalition government could not be formed.
Sarmas took over from Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis after the swearing-in ceremony held today at the Presidency.
According to the news in the Greek media, the Foreign Minister of the retired ambassador Vasilis Kaskarelis, who also served in the Greek Embassy in Ankara in the Sarmas cabinet, the Defense Minister of Alkiviadis Stefanis, the former Deputy Defense Minister of Greece and the Commander of the Land Forces, Haralambos Lalusis, former Commander of the Land Forces, is expected to be the Minister of Citizen Protection.
Kaskarelis and Stefanis are reported to be experienced names in Turkish-Greek relations, and the new cabinet is expected to be sworn in tomorrow.

In the general elections held in Greece, according to unofficial results, New Democracy won more than 40 percent of the vote (146 seats), beating its closest rival Radical Left Alliance (SYRIZA) by 20 points, but the 151 seats needed to come to power. just couldn’t reach.
Kiryakos Mitsotakis, leader of New Democracy, and Alexis Tsipras, leader of the second party, SYRIZA, also re-formed a government, alleging that the necessary conditions for a coalition were not in place.
The leader of the PASOK-KINAL alliance, Nikos Andrulakis, who came third in the elections, also refused the same task given to him by President Sakelaropulu. (AA)
