“Western Weapons Make ‘Nuclear Apocalypse’ More Likely” Related Articles

Former Russian President Dimitry Medvedev has said a “nuclear apocalypse” is becoming increasingly likely if Western arms shipments to Ukraine continue. “The more weapons supplied, the more dangerous the world becomes,” said Medvedev, who now chairs Russia’s Security Council.

“And the more destructive these weapons are, the more likely the scenario of what is commonly called a nuclear apocalypse becomes,” Medvedev said, according to Russia’s state news agencies TASS and RIA.

The United States has already sent Ukraine $37 billion worth of weapons. An agreement was reached last weekend on training Ukrainian pilots with F-16 fighters.

Proxy War

The West says it wants to help Ukraine defeat Russia, but has repeatedly stressed that it does not want to provoke a direct military confrontation between NATO and Russia. But Russia, which has more nuclear weapons than any other country, has repeatedly said that the West is engaged in a proxy war with Russia. That battle could escalate into a much larger conflict.

“Rats” in Belgorod

The Russian military said today it had driven out the militants in the Belgorod region on the Ukrainian-Russian border. More than 70 “Ukrainian nationalists” are said to have been killed. Medvedev calls the attackers “bastards” who had to be exterminated “like rats.”

He alleges responsibility for the Belgorod attacks “on the Kiev regime and on its overseas sponsors”, i.e. the United States, the European Union and Great Britain. “This is their responsibility, directly and immediately.”
