The Wall Street Journal, one of the most respected newspapers in the US, published a remarkable analysis on the departure of the world famous businessman and owner of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, Elon Musk, before the first round of the elections.
Elon Musk said that Ankara had requested that some opposition Twitter accounts be blocked days before the election, and that Twitter complied. While there was a huge backlash to Musk, who made a statement last week, the famous businessman said: “Either access to Twitter would be shut down completely or only some accounts would be shut down.”
Citing this situation, the Wall Street Journal used the headline “The Elon Musk Doctrine: How the Billionaire Is Making His Way on the World Stage” and published a full analysis. In the news, “Businessmen take a frank but globally compatible stance on issues involving the United States. Posing himself as a free speech advocate, Musk is tough on US politicians but takes a softer approach when it comes to foreign leaders who can influence his own companies. It could be called the Musk Doctrine.”

Recalling that Musk can very harshly criticize US President Joe Biden, the Wall Street Journal said: “SpaceX can direct other countries’ technologies into space, for example, the Türksat 6A communications satellite will be sent into space this year within range of the Agreement with Turkey. Details of the deal done in 2021 were not disclosed, but the standard price for the Falcon 9 release is seen on the official website at $67 million.
Writing in December that Musk and President Erdogan shook hands in Qatar during the 2022 World Cup, the Wall Street Journal commented: “Erdogan is just one of the leaders Musk has met in recent years.”
Stating that prior to Musk’s purchase of Twitter, Musk’s comment on the Russia-Ukraine war, “Some regions in eastern Ukraine prefer Russia,” sparked a huge reaction, later saying, “I just met with Putin once, and he was 18 months ago. The topic was long,” he said.
“Last week, Musk defended Twitter’s decision in Türkiye. Twitter announced that it blocked some content before the elections, which were shown to be the toughest race in Erdogan’s 20-year rule. The Wall Street Journal story also noted that Musk’s remarks sparked a new discussion.
