Zelensky’s diplomatic tour: from Saudi Arabia to Japan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has arrived in Hiroshima, Japan to attend the G7 Leaders Summit.
According to the NHK State Television news report, Zelenskiy landed at Hiroshima airport at 3:30 p.m. local time with a plane belonging to France. Zelenskiy tweeted: “Japan. G7. Important meetings with partners and friends from Ukraine. Security and greater cooperation for our victory. Peace will come closer today, ”he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy will meet the leaders and will aim to reinforce the existing solidarity of the G7 countries with Ukraine in the face of Russian attacks. Zelenskiy is expected to hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on the sidelines of the summit.
In the statement of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that on the last day of the summit it was decided to hold a session on Ukraine among the G-7 leaders with the participation of Zelensky himself.
With said visit, Zelenskiy made his first trip to the Asian region after February 2022, when the Russian attacks began. The summit, hosted by Japan, which will be attended by the leaders of the US, France, England, Germany, Canada, Italy and the European Union (EU), will end on May 21.
The leaders of Indonesia, India, South Korea, Australia, Brazil, Vietnam and representatives of international organizations were also invited to the summit. (AA)
