Tensions of the ‘march of the flag’ in Jerusalem

Fanatic Jewish settlers began flocking to the Old City’s symbolic Damascus Gate for the provocative “flag march” in occupied East Jerusalem. Fanatic far-right Jewish settlers are holding a provocative “flag march” due to Israel’s 1967 occupation of East Jerusalem.

Thousands of groups of fanatical settlers poured into the symbolic Damascus Gate area of the Old City, carrying Israeli flags and banners of fanatical groups. The Israeli police erected numerous barricades around the Old City; Palestinians were denied entry into the area.

Transport Minister Miri Regev of the Likud Party joined the flag march in the occupied Old City of East Jerusalem with a group carrying Israeli flags in the morning. Footage of a clash between fanatical Jewish settlers and Palestinian residents was shared on social media, and police intervened.

Raid on Masjid-i Aqsa

Due to the flag march, fanatical Jewish settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police.

According to the written statement made by the Jerusalem Islamic Foundations Administration, a total of 1,262 fanatical Jewish settlers stormed the Aqsa courtyard in two separate expeditions in the morning and at noon. Far-right Galilee and Najaf Region Development Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf, Likud Party MPs Ariel Kallner, Dan Illouz, former Likud MP Judah Glick were among those who stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque .

Palestinian political groups called for Palestinian resistance against the provocative flag march of fanatical Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem. Hamas spokesman Abdullatif al-Kanu said in a written statement that “the war over Aqsa’s identity continues and they will not allow Israel to dominate or control Aqsa with a march of flags.”

In a written statement, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine stressed that “the Palestinian people and their resistance will not remain silent in the face of Israel’s practices against Aqsa.” (AA)
