BLACK SEA GRAINS INITIATIVE

If Russia and Ukraine do not approve the extension, the initiative will end on May 18.

Ukraine’s Minister of Development of Communities, Regions and Infrastructure Aleksandr Kubrakov stated that they are working to extend the duration of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov, on the other hand, noted that issues regarding the Russia-related part of the initiative are still unresolved, saying that Moscow would make a statement when it decides to extend it.

In the statement of the Ministry of National Defense, it was announced that bilateral and multilateral meetings with Ukraine, Russia and the UN were held in Istanbul on May 10 and 11, and useful meetings were held with the parties’ constructive approaches.

To reduce the impact of Russia’s attack on Ukraine on world food prices, the UN, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine signed the Black Sea Grains Initiative at a ceremony in Istanbul on July 22, 2022.
