Strike canceled in Germany

The warning strike of railway workers in Germany has been called off. In the statement, it was stated that DB and EVG reached a compromise in the Frankfurt Labor Court.

The statement indicated that the parties agreed to negotiate quickly and constructively with the aim of reaching a conclusion soon and, despite this good news for passengers, it was warned that there will be restrictions on commuter and long-distance trains. services for the next few days.

In the statement, it was noted that the company faces a great challenge, such as recreating approximately 50,000 train services and, consequently, shift and task distribution plans.

“WE ARE SUCCESSFUL”

DB’s Human Resources Director, Martin Seiler, stated that they did everything possible to prevent this strike in the interests of the railway companies, customers and the industry and that they were successful: “It was to everyone’s advantage that DB went to the labor courts “. he used the phrase.

In the EVG statement, it was indicated that the strike call is still valid for some other railway companies, and for now only the work stoppage action with the DB has been cancelled.

To avoid the warning strike, DB filed an urgent application with the Frankfurt Labor Court alleging that the work stoppage was “disproportionate” and harmed “customers and third parties”.

CALL 50 HOURS TO WAIT

EVG has called a 50-hour work stoppage, which will run from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, to midnight on May 16, due to the ongoing dispute with the German public railway company DB and other railway companies over the salary increase.

EVG rejected DB’s offer of a 10 percent increase for low- and middle-income workers and an 8 percent increase for higher-income workers, and a one-time payment of 2,850 euros against the cost of living increase. . He had asked for 12 raises or at least 650 euros more per month. (AA)
