Israeli attacks continue in Gaza

As Israel’s airstrikes on the blockaded Gaza Strip continue for a fifth day, Palestinian armed groups are responding by firing rockets in the direction of Israel.

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes against some houses in various parts of Gaza tonight. While 3 buildings were completely destroyed in the attacks, some residences were directly targeted and damaged.

The Palestinian authorities have not yet ruled on whether there were any deaths or injuries in the latest attacks. In a written statement made by the Israeli army, it was claimed that targets belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement were hit in the airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

In the statement, it was noted that some of the underground rocket positions belonging to the Jerusalem Military Wing, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, were hit. In the statement, it was also claimed that attacks were carried out against names such as Khaled Azzam and Mohammed Abu al-Ata of the Islamic Jihad leadership.

On the other hand, Palestinian armed groups continued to fire rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli settlements against the attacks on the fifth day.

Warning sirens against rocket fire were activated in Sderot and some Israeli settlements in Israel’s border region with Gaza.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On Tuesday, May 9, the Israeli army launched an attack on besieged Gaza, claiming it was targeting the executive staff of the Islamic Jihad Movement.

In the Israeli attacks, 33 Palestinians, including 6 children and 3 women, have been killed so far, while 93 Palestinians, including 32 children and 17 women, have been injured. Six members of Islamic Jihad’s executive staff were among those killed in Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

Palestinian groups, on the other hand, respond to these attacks by firing more than a thousand rockets and mortar shells from Gaza towards the Israeli side. (AA)
