The UN will continue to work closely with all parties to sustain the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

In the UN statement, Griffiths spoke at the Black Sea Grain Initiative meeting held in Istanbul with the participation of the deputy defense ministers of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine.

Reiterating the importance of this initiative for global food security, Griffiths congratulated the parties involved for facilitating the safe export of more than 30 million metric tons of grains and food products from Ukraine since the start of the initiative.

Martin Griffiths appreciated the important contribution of Russia’s food and fertilizer exports at the meeting, where many issues were discussed, such as the reoperation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, the extension of the agreement, the improvement of the Joint Coordination Center for operations stable.

Griffiths stressed that the UN will continue to work closely with all parties for the continuation and full implementation of the initiative.

Turkey organized bilateral and multilateral meetings with Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the United Nations yesterday and today in Istanbul. (AA)
