State of emergency declared in flood-hit New Zealand

A state of emergency has been declared due to flooding in Auckland, New Zealand.

According to the BBC report, the New Zealand government declared a state of emergency in flood-hit Auckland, while a group of high school students were affected by floodwaters while exploring caves in the city of Whangarei. in the Northland region.

1 student was said to be missing from the group of 15 students and 2 adults and search and rescue efforts were continuing.

Train and bus services were canceled in the city and passengers were warned not to travel unless necessary. Heavy rain was recorded to continue until midnight at certain intervals.

Emergency rescuers reported responding to more than 200 calls for help in Auckland.
