US Statement on the May 14 Election

The US affirmed that the result of the elections to be held on May 14 in Turkey will not affect bilateral relations.

According to VOA Turkish news, the US State Department statement conveyed the message: “We will continue to work together no matter which government is elected… Our only hope is to see a free and fair election based on a democracy.” . process.”

At the Health Ministry’s daily press briefing, deputy spokesman Vedant Patel was asked “how the presidential and general elections to be held in Turkey on Sunday next week will affect US-Turkish relations.” Patel, who began his speech by saying “It will not affect”, responded: “We will continue to work together, no matter which government the Turkish people choose, and we will continue to deepen these relations and work on a number of areas of cooperation and common priorities.”

Patel responded: “But in general, the United States does not take sides in elections. Our only hope is to see free and fair elections based on a democratic process,” he concluded.
