Putin’s Victory Day speech: Western elites are against Russia
Celebrations for “Victory Day,” when the Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany in World War II, took place on Red Square in Moscow, the Russian capital.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also made remarks at the event held today under heavy security.
“A real war is being waged against our country,” Putin said. We want to see a peaceful future. Western elites spread hatred and hostility towards Russia. Their goal is to destroy our country,” he said.
Many weapons and military vehicles joined the procession on Victory Day. The Iskender-M missile launcher also toured in front of the participants.
“The Ukrainian people have become prisoners of the coup and the objectives of the West. We remember the role that the people of the Soviet Union played in the victory over Nazi Germany. We remember the roles that the US, Britain and China played in World War II.
Speaking about the Russian-Ukrainian war, Putin said: “We are also proud of those who took part in the special military operation in Ukraine. The whole country came together to support our heroes, we pray for you.”
