“Gift to the world of the end of Erdogan’s reign” Related articles

A week before Turkey’s election, opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu called for a change of power after Erdogan’s 20 years as prime minister and president. The opposition election candidate called the change a gift for world politics.

Before tens of thousands of supporters and sympathizers of other opposition parties, Kilicdaroglu said in Istanbul: “You will replace an authoritarian government with democratic means.” Erdogan’s 74-year-old challenger has promised to restore the rule of law in the country.

Turkey has presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14. The polls predict a head-to-head race. Turks in the Netherlands can vote until today, Sunday 7 May.
