Mexico did not grant airspace permission to the United States
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that they did not give permission to use their airspace to the United States, which requested permission to search for the spy balloon, which it assured came from the Asian side.
Obrador, in a press conference, said: “The Pentagon contacted our Secretary of Defense to state that they wanted to enter our area with unmanned aerial vehicles to follow the spy balloon that was about to enter the airspace of the country from Hawaii. . “They said they were sure the balloon was coming from the Asian side,” he said. President Obrador said: “Our response was: ‘No, you can’t go in.’ We do not allow drones and planes to enter our airspace. he said.
Noting that officials from the Mexican Civil Aviation Organization did not detect the spy balloon that the US said was heading for the city of Manzanillo, in the west of the country, at 03:00 local time, Obrador drew attention to the fact that the government did not provide additional information about the state of the balloon. Obrador emphasized that the relationship between Mexico and the United States is based on cooperation, not “obedience” or “submission.”
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused the United States on April 18 of spying on his country and interfering in its internal affairs. Obrador claimed that information about charges of smuggling large amounts of fentanyl into the US against 28 members of the Sinaloa cartel was obtained by US intelligence agents in Mexico. (AA)
