Meeting tour with European leaders from Zelenskiy to Finland

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked Finland for its support, stating that Finland was one of the first to respond to the help Ukraine needed.

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Zelenskiy gave a press conference in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Zelenskiy said that the European Union (EU) sanctions packages applied to Russia are one of the issues they will discuss with Finland, and that Russia is constantly trying to avoid these sanctions.

Emphasizing that the more pressure is applied to Russia, the faster the result can be achieved, Zelenskiy said: “I think this year will be decisive for us. It will be decisive for Europe, for Ukraine, for victory. Thanks Finland. Thanks to everyone who helped us.”

Finnish President Niinisto also stated that the Scandinavian countries did their best to support Ukraine, saying: “We will continue to support Ukraine. Our 15th military support package for Ukraine is ready and I’m sure the 16th will be there too.”

AIRCRAFT SHOOTING

Niinisto, on the question of ‘why the fighter jets were not delivered to Ukraine, why was it expected’, said: “This problem first came to light with the F-16 jets. We don’t have any of them, but we do have a Hornet type fighter plane. They are also quite old and not found in many European countries.

At this, the President of Ukraine, Zelensky, intervened and said: “But we love your planes. They are fine,” he said.

Zelenskiy is expected to attend the Nordic-Ukrainian summit in the evening and meet with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Zelensky will visit Germany on May 13 and 14. (AA)
