Times: If Erdogan is defeated in the elections, it can cause chaos

The world press continues to publish detailed analyzes of the possible results of the May 14 elections.

The article titled “Weak president Erdogan may cause chaos if defeated”, published in the British newspaper The Times, by Roger Boyes, included the comment that Erdogan would not remain silent if he lost the election.

Noting that Western countries should expect the electorate to end Erdogan’s 20-year rule, Boyes also addressed concerns about the president’s health. Calling attention to Erdogan’s return after his illness, the article said: “Dictatorial leaders have to show such performance when the economy is bad or, more importantly, when their 20-year rule appears to be running out”.

In the article, noting that Erdogan could take Russian leader Putin’s tactics to cling to power if he did not receive enough support in the elections, it was claimed that Erdogan tried to increase Turkey’s influence in the Ottoman lands by acting as a ” Sultan of a Thousand Rooms” and saw himself as indispensable to his country, just like Putin. .

‘3 REASONS TO BE AGAINST ERDOGAN’

On the other hand, the Times, which wrote that Erdogan, who is a year younger than Putin, seems tired, listed three reasons why Turkish voters oppose Erdogan as follows: “His international goals are largely due to partly to the illusion of size, inflation is running amok and the inadequate response to the recent earthquakes, showed how weak the state was”.

Noting that the opposition is united under the leadership of CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the British newspaper claimed that the promise of a more economically competent and tolerant government could be convincing to young voters.

Noting that Western countries are trying to avoid taking sides in the electoral process in front of the public, the newspaper commented that if Erdogan loses, he can challenge the result and create chaos. In the article, it was stated that a post-Erdogan government that releases writers and journalists from jail and prevents Turkey from being a bilateral NATO member should be welcomed by Turkey’s foreign friends.
