Response to Wagner from the Russian Defense Minister: We supply ammunition to the army

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu stated that enough ammunition was sent to the army, saying: “In general, the defense sector meets the needs of the army and navy.”

During a meeting with military officials, Shoigu made statements about the Russia-Ukraine War and the actions of the West. Stating that the Russian Armed Forces continued to fight in Ukraine and that the Ukrainian army suffered losses, Shoigu said: “Despite unprecedented military support from Western countries, the enemy is inflicting heavy losses. It lost more than 15,000 soldiers in the last month alone,” he said.

Noting that companies operating in the defense field in his country have been instructed to increase their production, Shoygu said that they keep the process of complying with government orders in the field under control. Shoigu said: “As a result, compared to the beginning of 2022, the purchase of weapons in particular increased 7 times and the purchase of general types of weapons 2.7 times. Sufficient ammunition was sent to the Russian Armed Forces to defeat the enemy. In general, the defense sector meets the needs of the army and navy. However, it is necessary to detect the risks of not complying with the obligations of the companies in a timely manner and take the necessary measures quickly.”

Yevgeniy Prigojin, founder of the Russian security company Wagner, said Russian mercenaries and soldiers who took part in the clashes in Bahmut had ammunition problems. (AA)
