Australia limits the sale of electronic cigarettes
According to BBC news, Australia’s Health Minister Mark Butler said e-cigarettes are becoming more popular among young people and creating a new generation of nicotine addicts, and that their sale will be limited to pharmacies.
“The big cigarette companies took another addictive product, just like they did cigarettes, wrapped it in shiny packaging and added flavors to create a new generation of nicotine addicts,” Butler said.
Claiming they were duped, Butler emphasized that he is 52 years old, saying: “Only 1 in 70 people my age smoke e-cigarettes.”
Butler noted that e-cigarettes have become “the number one behavior problem” in high schools, noting that these products are deliberately targeted at children and are readily available “along with candy and chocolate” in stores. retailers.
According to Australian media, the Ministry of Health has begun installing e-cigarette detectors in some school bathrooms.
Studies show that one in six young Australians aged 14-17 and one in four young people aged 18-24 use e-cigarettes. (AA)
