US Iran Spokesperson to Israel
McCarthy, who was in contact in Israel, addressed MPs in the General Assembly due to the opening of the Israeli Assembly’s summer term.
Emphasizing that his visit to Israel was his first trip abroad as Speaker of the House of Representatives, McCarthy said that the bond between Tel Aviv and Washington is “close and unbreakable.”
“NO ALLIANCE GREATER THAN ISRAEL”
“America has no greater ally than Israel.” McCarthy asserted that the world is “better and safer” when the United States and Israel are close to each other.
Expressing that “Iran will never have nuclear weapons” in his speech, McCarthy noted that his country will work together with Israel for this purpose.
On the other hand, according to a written statement from the Israeli Prime Ministry Press Office, McCarthy and the accompanying House delegation made this visit to show “solidarity” on the 75th anniversary of the founding of Israel.
MEETING WITH NETANYAHU
McCarthy also met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of his contacts in West Jerusalem.
After meeting McCarthy in person and between delegations, Netanyahu made remarks regarding the visit.
Expressing that he is happy to receive McCarthy, whom he describes as “a trusted friend of the Israeli state”, Netanyahu said: “He (McCarthy) has been the main defender of the Israeli-American alliance. I don’t think we have a better friend than him.” He said.
Reiterating his country’s stance on Iran’s nuclear activities, Netanyahu said: “The first and most urgent problem is the joint effort by Israel and the United States to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. We will not allow Iran to establish itself militarily on our borders and we will do everything possible to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons.” he used his statements. (AA)
