Decision of May 1 of France: a drone will be used
According to the Le Figaro report, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has ordered police chiefs to use drones for intelligence purposes at mass demonstrations across the country tomorrow.
The Home Secretary asked police chiefs to be present at the demonstrations and to keep in touch to ease potential tensions between law enforcement officers and unions.
12,000 policemen will be on duty throughout the country, of which 5,000 will be in the capital Paris, in tomorrow’s demonstrations, where they will also protest the extension of the retirement age by 2 years.
Despite sparking protests in the country on April 19, a decree was issued allowing security forces to use drones at demonstrations.
Although the use of drones in demonstrations was allowed under the Security Law adopted in 2022 in France, the decision was put on hold for a while because it sparked protests.
THE LAW THAT UP THE COUNTRY
Massive demonstrations broke out in France on March 16, following the government’s decision to pass the bill, which includes raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, without a vote.
There was violence in many parts of the country between the police and protesters, who responded harshly to the demonstrations.
More than 1,000 people have been detained in protests across the country since March 16.
The Constitutional Council, to which the opposition and the government turned to to determine if the reform complied with the constitution, approved the article of the bill that raised the retirement age to 64 years, and rejected all 6 articles in whole or in part .
The bill was signed by French President Emmanuel Macron and published in the Official Gazette. (AA)
