Military helicopters collide in the US: 3 dead
As a result of the collision of 2 US Army helicopters returning from a training flight in Alaska, 3 soldiers were killed and one soldier was injured.
In the statement issued by the army, it was reported that at the time of the accident there were 2 people present in each of the “AH-64 Apache” type helicopters belonging to the 25th Aviation Regiment at Fort Wainwright, near the city of Fairbanks, which crashed coming back from training.
The statement said that in the accident that occurred in the Healy region of Alaska, 2 soldiers died at the scene, another soldier died while being taken to the hospital, and the injured soldier was treated at the hospital. The names of the dead soldiers will not be made public until their relatives are informed and the cause of the accident is investigated, it said.
This was the second accident involving military helicopters in Alaska this year. In February, 2 soldiers were injured when an Apache helicopter crashed just after takeoff from Talkeetna. (AA)
