Shock to retired staff: ‘They will work 2 more years’
In France, a firm has recalled former employees who had retired after the approval of the controversial reform that raised the retirement age by two years, alleging that they were affected by the regulations.
According to the news from France Bleu, the French company “Orano” sent a notice to its 16 former employees born after 1961 and retired, on the condition that they work two more years or receive a lower salary. The firm also offered its first-generation former employees within the scope of the reform the option of enjoying unpaid leave during these two years without being considered retired.
“After a long working life in the company, I was quietly planning to move to the south of France,” one of the retirees complained about the situation. The former employee explained that he had given up on selling his house, which he was considering selling, due to the change in his situation.
On the other hand, the union, to which the workers are affiliated, criticized the company’s notification before the official decree on the implementation of the reform was published. French Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt announced that the reform would take effect on September 1.
