A new record is expected in Spain… it can reach 40 degrees
Spain could see temperatures climb as high as 40 degrees and surpass the previous high of 37.4 degrees for the month of April.
Record temperatures are expected to hit the country between Wednesday and Friday. According to weather forecasts; Temperatures are expected to reach levels normally seen in the height of summer.
Spain’s weather agency Aemet forecast temperatures could hit 40 degrees on Thursday or Friday in the Guadalquivir valley in Andalucia, southern Spain. The agency said that a mass of very hot and dry air from Africa will gradually enter.
Temperatures are also expected to drop on Sunday and into next week. As heat waves swept across Europe, the highest temperature recorded in Spain in April was 37.4 degrees Celsius in Murcia in 2011.
Warning about the climate challenges facing his country, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez urged residents to be aware of the use of water resources, as crop problems are affected:
“The Spanish Government and I are aware that the debate on the drought will be one of the most important political and regional debates in our country in the coming years.”
Low rainfall and high temperatures have affected the country for the past three years, with 2022 being the warmest year on record. Last June, forest fires devastated the country.
