Turkish citizens evacuated by buses in Sudan

Due to clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (HDK) in Sudan since April 15, it was reported that more than 1,600 Turkish citizens in the country were transported to Ethiopia on buses assigned by the Turkish Embassy in Khartoum.

Diplomatic sources stated that the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the evacuation of Turkish citizens in Sudan to Turkey via Ethiopia continues. The sources claimed that more than 1,600 Turkish citizens have been transported to Ethiopia on buses assigned by the Turkish Embassy in Khartoum, and gave the following information:

“Our citizens are first transferred from the Ethiopian border to the airport in the city of Gondar in this country with the vehicles provided by our Embassy in Addis Ababa. Our citizens are scheduled to be transported from Gondar to Addis Ababa on planes chartered by Ethiopian airlines, and then brought to our country via the Addis Ababa-Istanbul route.”

In this context, the sources stated that the first plane carrying 164 Turkish citizens left Gondar for Addis Ababa. (AA)
