TRNC Call to ‘Keep Your Promises’
Speaking to reporters, Tatar recalled that 19 years have passed since the Annan Plan was submitted to a referendum, and stated that the UN, the EU and the US would be rewarded and the party that said “no” would be punished.
“WE WILL KEEP PUNCHING HIS FACE”
Pointing out that the embargo and lockdowns imposed on the TRNC have not been lifted, although the majority of the Turkish Cypriot side said “yes” to the referendum, Tatar said: “While these promises have not been fulfilled despite the past 19 years, we will continue to put the truth in their faces by reminding them of the promises they made on the anniversary of the referendum. We will show their real faces. My call to the UN, the EU and the US: stop supporting the Greek Cypriot administration and the Greek Cypriot duo, which blows up all negotiation and peace processes. Keep your promises to the TRNC.” he said.
Tatar stated that the Annan Plan referendum and events at the Crans-Montana talks in 2017 once again revealed that a federal government-based solution is not possible.
Noting that the TRNC has now adopted a new policy with the support of Turkey, Tatar noted that the TRNC will not return to a collapsed process based on a federative basis.
