Amnesty and reduced sentence for 1,760 Khamenei prisoners
According to the Mizan news agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, the rules regarding the sentencing of 1,760 prisoners were drawn up with the recommendation of the president of the judiciary, Gulam Hüseyin Muhsini Ejei, and the approval of the Iranian leader.
The decision is said to cover prisoners who were sentenced by the Revolutionary and General Courts and the Judicial Institutions of the Armed Forces due to the Ramadan Festival.

Under the Iranian constitution, Khamenei has the power to pardon prisoners. At the request of the Iranian judiciary, Khamenei issues amnesty for the prisoners every year, especially on the anniversary of the revolution, on holidays and other religious days.
With Khamenei’s approval, tens of thousands of detainees and sentenced, including those linked to the Mahsa Emini demonstrations, were amnestied or reduced in February, on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the revolution. (AA)
