North Korean leader: our first spy satellite is ready
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced that all preparations for the launch of the country’s first military spy satellite have been completed.
Visiting the National Aeronautics and Space Development Administration, Kim said that “having a functioning military reconnaissance satellite is crucial for North Korea to effectively use its nuclear-capable missiles,” according to the Korean Central News Agency. North (KCNA).
Kim said the No. 1 military reconnaissance satellite has been built and has instructed officials with the hope of launching the satellite by the end of April. Noting that all preparations to launch the country’s first military spy satellite have been completed, Kim said several satellites should be launched to enhance North Korea’s intelligence-gathering ability.
North Korea announced on December 19, 2022 that it had launched the test satellite, which is considered the final stage in the development of the first spy satellite. The North Korean news agency KCNA published low-resolution black-and-white photos taken from the test satellite showing the South Korean capital Seoul and the city of Incheon from space.
The spy satellite was among the products of advanced military technology North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced at the party meeting in early 2021. These included the multi-weapon solid-fuel long-range missile, the nuclear missile launched underwater and nuclear powered submarines.
Kim’s sister, Kim Yo-jong, compared the comments of South Korean experts on the test satellite, which is considered the final stage in the development of the first spy satellite, to “barking.” (AA)
