Ukraine: Black Sea grain deal in jeopardy

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has said the Black Sea grain deal is in danger of stalling.

Speaking at a press conference in Warsaw, Svyrydenko said: “The deal is in danger of stalling and Russia has once again blocked inspection of the ships.” Svyrydenko said: “It is extremely important for us to remove the barriers to crossings, otherwise Ukraine will remain blocked. We cannot give our partners and Russia the opportunity to take advantage of this situation.”

Ukraine’s Agriculture Minister Mykola Solsky stated that negotiations on the grain corridor agreement are continuing and that time should be given to see how the negotiations progress.

According to news from Russia’s RIA news agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry claims that the United Nations and Ukraine have difficulties in inspecting ships and registering new ships.

The agreement between Moscow and kyiv, created in July last year, will expire on May 18 unless it is extended again. (Reuters)
