Greek Foreign Minister: We do not want tension between the two countries

The Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias came to Gökçeada to attend the Easter Festival. Minister Dendias visited the Gökçeada Merkez Panayia Greek Orthodox Church for the first time. Subsequently, Minister Dendias met with the Greek Patriarch Bartholomew I of Fener in Gökçeada Metropolithane and evaluated the agenda.

Minister Dendias said that they are happy that relations between Turkey and Greece have been going well recently, saying, “We do not want tension and tension between the two countries. We want and wish that these bilateral relations continue in the good. This is also the case with the Patriarchate. We want better measures to be taken,” he said.

Patriarch Bartholomew, on the other hand, stated that they are happy with the positive developments between Turkey and Greece and do not want tensions between the two countries.

After the speeches, Minister Dendias and Fener, the Greek Patriarch Bartholomew I, presented each other with various gifts. After his visit here, Minister Dendias met with students from the Gökçeada private Greek primary school in Zeytinliköy.

Minister Dendias stated that a Foreign Minister came to Gökçeada after 11 years after school and said, “We are very happy. We also visit the school. We have 60 children here. We hope that this number will be 120 when the next Foreign Minister visits here. We are very happy with this situation, ”he said.

Subsequently, Minister Dendias visited the Association for the Protection, Assistance, Development and Sustenance of Gökçeada and attended the Easter Mass presided over by the Greek Patriarch Bartholomew I of Fener at the Agridia Church in Tepeköy. (DHA)
