Russia: Improving relations between Turkey and Syria will change the situation in the region

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov made remarks on current affairs at a press conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Responding to the question about the meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, Iran and Syria, Lavrov stated that they are in the process of determining the date, place and topics of the meeting: “Our position on this issue is clear. No condition is acceptable in this regard.” he said.

Noting the importance of improving relations between Turkey and Syria, Lavrov said: “This will create significant changes in the situation in the region. We are ready to encourage and support this in every way. None of these 4 countries is discussing the principles of territorial integrity. This creates good conditions for us to bring the dialogue from the level of experts to the level of foreign ministers.” he performed the assessment of it.

QUESTION OF AFGHANISTAN

Referring to the issue of Afghanistan, Lavrov drew attention to the importance of establishing an inclusive government in this country, saying: “The Taliban say that the government they formed includes Uzbeks, Tajiks and Hazaras, but the representatives of these ethnic groups in the government they also represent the Taliban in political terms.” he said.

Lavrov stressed that the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, the resolution of human rights problems in the country and the improvement of the situation in general will be an important step towards the official recognition of the Taliban.

Assessing the West’s actions regarding Afghanistan, Lavrov said: “Not only DAESH but also other terrorist organizations operate in Afghanistan. There are reasons to believe that some of our Western colleagues were involved in promoting acts of terrorism.” he used his statements.

US MILITARY BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

Assessing the military biological activities of the US and its allies, Lavrov said that actions in this regard pose a threat to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

Minister Lavrov said: “Our joint work to neutralize threats to the security of our countries (CIS countries) is important. It is about terrorism in our region, military biological activities carried out by the United States and its allies, which set very dangerous precedents in terms of biological security. This is a direct threat to public health and nature.” he performed the assessment of it.
