Serbian president denies arms transfer to Ukraine
06:35 | Serbia has not sold any weapons or ammunition to Ukraine or Russia. This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in response to documents leaked by the Pentagon, according to which Serbia has promised to supply Ukraine with arms. “Serbia does not have and will not export weapons to Ukraine,” said the leader of one of the most pro-Russian countries in Europe.
The document, which was seen by The Guardian, is a summary of European countries’ attitude towards arms transfers in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Serbia would then be prepared and have the political capacity to supply weapons.
Serbia is the only European country that does not agree with sanctions against Russia. Vučić is doing his best to keep ties warm with Moscow and Beijing, while not being entirely indifferent to the US and the EU. For example, his government repeatedly voted against Russia in the US General Assembly when it came to invading Ukraine.
