Two migrant boats sank, 10 dead
Tunisian National Security Forces spokesman Husameddin al-Jababli made a written statement from his social media account about the sinking ships.
The statement indicated that the bodies of 10 people were recovered from two migrant boats that sank as a result of the operation carried out by the Navy security forces against irregular migration attempts, and 76 people were rescued.
The statement indicated that the operations continue intensively on the southern coasts of the country, and it was noted that the rescued migrants were referred to the judicial authorities.
The statement also indicated that 57 immigrants were caught in the operations carried out yesterday against irregular migration attempts.

In the statement made by the Tunisian National Security Forces on April 7, in the operations carried out by the security forces of the National Security Forces in the north and south seas of the country between January 1 and March, 13,138 of the 501 irregular migration attempts to Italy from sub-Saharan African countries were blocked and 14,406 immigrants announced, including Tunisians and others.
In the statement, it was indicated that 388 irregular migration attempts were prevented in operations organized by the security units of the Naval Forces in the Sfaks and Mehdiye regions during the same period, and that 13,259 irregular migrants, 12,804 from Saharan African Sub-Countries and 455 Tunisians, were captured during these operations.
Every year, thousands of irregular African migrants arrive in Tunisia to reach Europe via the Mediterranean in the hope of a better life.
Some of the immigrants from sub-Saharan African countries, who have lived in Tunisian immigrant slums for many years, manage to reach Europe, while others die at sea. (AA)
