Girls poisoned with chemical gas in Iran
It was claimed that female students studying at the Mirac Girls High School in the city of Sakkız in the Kurdistan province of Iran were poisoned with chemical gas.
According to the images published on social networks, there was a confrontation between the parents who came to the school and the security guards. In protest of the attack that poisoned the students, the inhabitants of Sakkız lowered the Iranian flag that hung from the school and chanted slogans against the country’s leader, Ali Khamenei.
A confrontation ensued between the security forces who came to the school and the assembled crowd. In the publications it was seen that in addition to the ambulances that arrive at the school, the parents took the children to the hospitals with their own means.
It was claimed that at least 47 students were hospitalized and more than 20 of them were in critical condition. No official statement was made about it.
EXIT MAHSA AMIN PROTESTS
The death on September 16 of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who fell ill and was hospitalized after being detained by Irshad patrols, known as the “morality police” in Tehran on September 13, sparked outrage in the country.
Demonstrations that began after Amini’s funeral in her hometown of Sakkız on September 17 spread to many cities.
Since November 30, 2022, there have been cases of mass poisoning in schools where most of the female students are educated in Iran. More than 5,000 students have been poisoned in 238 schools so far. Students present with symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea, headache, and numbness in the extremities.
In a written statement released on March 11, Iran’s Interior Ministry said more than 100 people were detained on suspicion of being linked to cases of mass poisoning in schools in Tehran, Qom, Zanjan, Khuzestan, Hamadan, Fars, Gilan , West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Razavi Khorasan had reported it.
