White House reaction to ‘Trump case’
White House spokesman Jean-Pierre responded to questions from reporters at the daily press conference.
Jean-Pierre, regarding criticism of the judicial system in the US and the attack on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, following the appearance of former US President Donald Trump in court of New York, said he would not make a special comment on this issue.
Jean-Pierre, for his part, pointed out that they condemn any attack on the judicial system or any judicial authority.
Answering questions about US journalist Evan Gershkovic, who has been arrested on charges of espionage by Russia, Jean-Pierre said that US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield discussed the issue with her Russian counterpart, Vassily Nebenzia. .
Jean-Pierre reported that Thomas-Greenfield conveyed to Nebenzia the US call for Gershkovic’s immediate release.
Regarding Taiwan’s leader Tsai Ing-wen’s visit to the US, Jean-Pierre reiterated his view that these visits are ordinary and there is no reason for China to react, stating that they have conveyed this message directly to the Chinese authorities in the last few days.
