Upon his indictment, Trump must go through a standard procedure, which will include photographing him and having his fingerprints taken. This is unique, as it is the first time in history that a former American president has undergone such procedures. “Many things are unclear, including the exact charges,” Postma says.
Trump said he will return to his Mar-a-Lago Florida mansion following his indictment to give a speech. The NYPD is extremely alert to protests from both Trump supporters and opponents. Fences have been placed around Trump Tower, streets around the courthouse are sealed off. The entire corps was called to stand ready in uniform. There are 36,000 agents at the scene, says BNR US correspondent Jan Postma.
“It will also be a military operation (…) to get Trump safely from Trump Tower to that courthouse”
Police
“There’s a lot of police. Normally you can enter Trump Tower as a tourist, now you really don’t even get close. The sidewalk is cordoned off, the street next to it is cordoned off. So they’re really prepared for anything. It’s also going to be a military operation (.. .) to get Trump safely from Trump Tower to that courthouse. The Secret Service is very busy with this. But the mayor has indicated that he ultimately expects no riots.”
And in the assembled press: ‘This is really extreme. There are really dozens, maybe hundreds, all lined up there like this. It’s really a lot.’
