High tensions in the West Bank
Two Palestinians were killed in an attack by Israeli forces on the city of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.
In a written statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that Israeli soldiers killed 2 Palestinians in Nablus. Eyewitnesses reported that clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian insurgents, who stormed the Old City of Nablus and the Al-Mahfiyye neighborhood. It was noted that the Israeli forces left the area after the clashes.
On the other hand, the Nablus-based Palestinian resistance group “Lion’s Den” announced in a written statement that the armed insurgents responded to the attack by Israeli forces by shooting and using hand-made explosives.
In the statement made by the Israeli army, it was indicated that the raid was carried out by Israeli soldiers, special forces and the Shin-Bet Internal Intelligence Service (Shabak). It was claimed that two Palestinians were attacked in the raid, who helped the person who carried out an armed attack in the town of Huwwara in Nablus on March 25, in which 2 Israeli soldiers were injured.
In the Israeli army’s statement, it was also claimed that a Palestinian suspected of belonging to Palestinian resistance groups was detained in another raid in the West Bank town of Wadi Siman overnight.
94 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed since the beginning of the year in attacks and raids by the Israeli army and Jewish settlers. (AA)
