Sanctions further tighten relations between China and Japan Related articles

Speaking at a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi in Beijing, Qin said China “looks forward to working together” on bilateral relations, said a Chinese foreign ministry statement.

“In the past, the United States has tried to suppress Japan’s semiconductor industry, and now it’s trying to do the same in China,” said Qin, who then called on Japan “not to do what someone else has done They”.

The first time in three years

Hayashi’s visit to China’s capital is the first trip by a Japanese diplomat in more than three years. It can easily be described as a special visit, also because last month China condemned the introduction of Japanese export measures against China. Japan has tightened trade controls, while the US is trying to severely limit China’s access to semiconductors.

Ties between Beijing and Tokyo have become much more fragile in recent years as Japan has aligned itself with US efforts to reduce China’s regional influence through institutions such as the Quad Group, which also includes Australia and India. However, Japan has always wanted to keep relations with China stable.
