Volcano alert: ‘It could erupt at any time’
Experts warned about the risk of explosion due to the volcanic activity that is experienced in the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano in Colombia.
In the statement of the Colombian Geological Service (SGC), it was reported that only yesterday 9,600 tremors were registered in the Manizales volcano, belonging to the Administrative Region of Caldas. The experts asked the authorities to go to Orange Alert before a possible risk of explosion that could occur in the volcano.
The SGC warned that the Nevado del Ruiz volcano spews smoke and ash, and that if it erupts, the volcanic response will be violent. Recalling that if such volcanic activity continues, flight activities in the country will be interrupted, SGC noted that many regions, including the capital, Bogotá, will be affected.
