Lithuania and Estonia welcome Turkey’s decision to Finland
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis stated that they welcomed the adoption of the draft law on the approval of the protocol of Finland’s accession to NATO in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Landsbergis wrote “Hello Finland” to Helsinki in a post on his Twitter account. Expressing that they expect Sweden to join NATO, Landsbergis said: “Lithuania welcomes Turkey’s decision regarding Finland and now we look forward to the participation of Sweden’s fourth Baltic state in NATO.”
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas tweeted: “All allies approve Finland’s NATO membership. My dear neighbors to the north, welcome to NATO. This is a historic moment for the Baltic Sea region and for the entire Alliance. I hope Hungary and Turkey will quickly approve Sweden’s membership,” he said.
The draft law on the approval of the protocol of accession of Finland to NATO was accepted in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. (AA)
