It is day 400 of the war in Ukraine. Follow the latest news about the war and all its aftermath in this live blog.

09:05 am | Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dymtro Kuleba criticized on Twitter Russia’s assumption of the presidency of the United Nations Security Council on April 1. He’s writing:

The Russian presidency of the UN Security Council on April 1 is a bad joke. Russia has usurped his seat; he is waging a colonial war; its leader is a war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court for kidnapping children. The world cannot be safe with Russia on the UN Security Council.”

Russia last sat on the Security Council in February 2022. It carried out its latest invasion of Ukraine on February 24th.

Cooling Water Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant Almost Finished: ‘Disastrous Consequences’

09:00 | An agreement is reached to take more protective measures at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the nuclear power plant has been in Russian hands. But several times the plant failed completely, due to attacks from both sides. “Disaster is predicted,” says foreign commentator Bernard Hammelburg.

The deal must be about protecting the nuclear power plant, Hammelburg says. “Furthermore, maintenance and supervision must take place under the direction of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).” However, little has been done to ensure protection as the dangers grow.

Also for this reason Rafael Grossi, managing director of the IAEA, went to the plant. He has repeatedly expressed his concern about the situation around the establishment. “The exchange has already failed six times. Then it has to move on to the generators, because the reactors in the factory have to stay cool.’

Lawyer confirms detention Russian man sentenced to prison after daughter anti-war photo

08:30 | Alexei Moskalyov, a Russian man sentenced to two years in prison for bringing the Russian military into disrepute and whose daughter was captured, was arrested after escaping house arrest. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on the basis of what his lawyer Dmitry Zakhvatov says.

It was earlier reported that he was arrested in Minsk after escaping house arrest. Moskalyo has been separated from his 13-year-old daughter since he was placed under house arrest in early March and she was transferred to a state-run reception centre.

Moskalyo was sentenced to two years in prison for his criticism of Kremlin policies in social media posts. Police launched an investigation against him after his daughter refused to take part in a lesson at her school and made a series of drawings showing missiles fired at a family flying a Ukrainian flag and another saying “Honour to Ukraine!”.
