The age of use of electric scooters will increase to 14 years in France
Clement Beaune, Minister of Transport of France, has announced to the local media the new rules that will come into force to better regulate the use of electric scooters in the country. Beaune stated that more than 2 million French people own electric scooters and drew attention to the increase in the number of accidents with the increase in the use of this vehicle in the country.
The French minister pointed out that with the decision that will soon be published in the Official Gazette, the age for using electric scooters will increase from 12 to 14 years. Beaune stated that if 2 people get on these vehicles, the fine will increase to 135 euros, and that 1 in 5 accidents in Paris occurs when 2 people get on electric scooters.
Minister Beaune said companies providing electric scooter services have signed an “engagement clause”. In this context, companies have agreed to control the age of scooter users and place a small plate on each scooter.
BANNED IN PARIS
The Paris City Council will hold a referendum on the use of electric scooters in the city on Sunday.
Parisians will have to choose between continuing or banning the use of the scooters in question. (AA)
