Poland’s call to ‘impose more sanctions on Belarus’
Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki made his assessments at the press conference held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, where he visited the Polish delegation in the framework of intergovernmental negotiations.
Stating that the next wave of sanctions against Belarus will be “much more severe,” especially for the regime of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Morawiecki said he is constantly speaking with European leaders about the scope of subsequent sanctions against Russia and Belarus.
Morawiecki criticized Belarus for supporting the Moscow administration by targeting Russia over its attack on Ukraine.
Saying that Russia’s plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus should result in additional, severe sanctions against the Belarusian government, Morawiecki said: “We in Poland have sent a very clear signal to Lukashenko that we will not accept such actions that actually serve Russian aggression. We are considering whether to tighten all the parameters related to issues such as trade within the framework of our bilateral relations to send, he said.
DECISION TO PLACE TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS FROM RUSSIA TO BELARUS
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on March 25 that they will place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus: “We will do this without violating our international obligations on non-proliferation.” he said.
NATO and the European Union (EU) declared that they found Russia’s decision “irresponsible”.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also called for an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council. (AA)
