Terrifying move of Russia: they launched supersonic anti-ship missiles

Although the war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than a year, one step that has caused concern has come from the Russian navy.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that the Russian Navy used its heavy weapons in an exercise in the Sea of Japan. In the statement and images shared from the official Telegram account of the Ministry, it is seen that the warships are doing fire tests.

Russian officials announced that the litmus test was successful.

“The Pacific Fleet today launched Moskit guided missiles against false enemy targets in the Sea of Japan,” the statement said. It was also noted that targets 100 kilometers away were “successfully” hit by two Moskit missiles.

The Russian military shared the details of the dangerous exercise.

The missiles, also known as supersonic anti-ship missiles, are known as P-270 Moskit missiles and are referred to by NATO as the SS-N-22 Sunburn. The medium-range supersonic guided missile of Soviet origin can hit targets up to 120 kilometers away.

Regarding the missile test, which caused concern in the region, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi announced that the shots did not cause any damage. “As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, Russian forces have become increasingly mobile in the Far East and close to Japan,” Hayashi told a news conference.

The missile launch caused concern in the region.

A week before the missiles were fired, two Russian strategic bombers flew over the Sea of Japan while harboring nuclear weapons, creating tension.

As the war between Russia and Ukraine continued, the movement of the Russian navy provoked a reaction from Japan.

Hayashi said that Russia also condemns the statements that an agreement has been reached on the maintenance of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. “We demand that Russia and Belarus stop taking measures that further escalate tensions,” Hayashi said.
