US Vice President Harris begins his visit to Africa
Arriving at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, Harris was greeted by senior officials as well as Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
In his speech at the airport, Harris stated that they look forward to this trip as one more expression of the long and enduring but also very important relationship and friendship between the people of the US and those who live on the African continent.
Expressing that he is very excited about the impact of the future of Africa on the rest of the world, including the US, Harris said: “When I look at what’s happening on this continent, I see a huge opportunity not just for the people of this continent, but for people all over the world. saying.
Harris said she wanted to address some of the issues related to the partnership between the African and American people and strengthen the work they will continue to do together.
Emphasizing that he wanted to pursue studies focused on increasing investment, economic growth and facilitating opportunities, especially on the continent, Haris said:
“I intend to do work specifically focused on supporting the work that needs to be done to increase food security, including the economic empowerment of women and girls, the empowerment of youth entrepreneurship, digital participation, and adapting to the impacts of climate crisis”.
