Vehicle attack at Cologne airport: many injured
There was an attack at the Cologne/Bonn airport in western Germany.
An unidentified man drove his vehicle into the crowd at the airport. Citing local media reports, the British news agency Reuters announced that many people were injured.
The German-based media organization NTV also made allegations that the attacker was not mentally stable. The security forces have not yet ruled on the matter.
Bild, one of Germany’s most widely read newspapers, claimed the attack took place in the airport parking lot. Bild announced the development with the statement: “The man, who is presumed to be mentally unstable, drove his vehicle over other people and vehicles in parking lot P2.”
Bild wrote that the attacker clashed with security forces and two police officers were injured.
While it was reported that the vehicle used by the attacker was rented, it was announced that the man, whose identity was not released, was taken to hospital and that a decision would be made on his mental balance.
