Turkey’s settlement reaction to Israel
The Foreign Ministry condemned the amendments to the law on Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the evacuation of some illegal settlements in the West Bank.
The Ministry has published a written statement on the amendment to the “Withdrawal Law” approved by the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) and the growing tension in the region during the upcoming Ramadan. Emphasizing that there is great concern about the growing tension in Jerusalem and the West Bank, the following was noted:
“We condemn the adoption of the amendment to the Withdrawal Law of 2005, which provides for the withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip and the evacuation of some illegal settlements in the West Bank, which provides for the abrogation of the articles on the evacuation of the settlements of Homesh, Ganim, Kadim, Sanor. We also reject the baseless, irresponsible and provocative claims by some members of the Israeli cabinet about the Palestinian state and people, which are in no way compatible with current, historical or political realities.”
On the other hand, in the statement, the parties wanted to immediately implement all the issues agreed in Sharm El Sheikh on March 19, especially respecting the historical status of Jerusalem and the holy places, and ensuring that the month of Ramadan, which coincides with the Easter party, they will pass in peace, sobriety and prudence are invited.
Under the new law, Jewish settlers will be allowed to return to the illegal settlements of Homeş, Ganim, Kadim and Sanor in the West Bank, from where they were expelled in 2005. The law aims to ensure that up to 10,000 Jewish settlers return to the settlements of those who were expelled. (AA)
